The 27th Annual Association For Practical And Professional Ethics Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl® will be held in Portland, Oregon, on March 4 and 5, 2023.
Thirty-six student teams from institutions of higher learning across the country will compete in matches using a set of prepared cases that are drawn from real-life examples in education, business, life, and politics. Nearly 150 teams from more than 100 schools competed in regional competitions this fall to earn a berth to the national competition.
This year’s national cases cases include topics such as alcohol sales at the 2022 World Cup, tattoo copyright infringement, the cost of panda conservation, campus Free Speech Zones, racial biases in reality TV competitions, forced retirements, and more. Judges ask probing questions and evaluate the teams’ efforts to analyze the case’s issues in a clear, focused and thoughtful manner, and help students understand and appreciate different perspectives from their own.
The national competition is held in conjunction with APPE’s annual conference each year.
